The Quayside Choir – Christmas Concert 2021

A Christmas Concert with Carols for All

Saturday 11 December 2021 at All Saints’ Church, Gussage All Saints, Wimborne, BH21 5HD

The Quayside Choir (formerly Barclays House Choir) is delighted to be presenting a concert of Christmas music at Gussage All Saints’ Church on Saturday 11 December at 7.30pm.  The choir will be joined by The Parry String Quartet, soprano soloist Eleanor Riley, trumpeter Winston Leese and accompanist/organist John Radford. The programme covers a wide range of music in different styles, including the sparkling ‘Carol of the Bells’, the ever-lovely ‘O Holy Night!’ the rousing ‘Gaudete!’ and many more seasonal pieces. With ample opportunities for audience participation in several traditional carols, this promises to be an enjoyable and entertaining evening as we explore both the contemplative and celebratory themes of Christmas. Tickets are priced at £8, to include seasonal refreshments. To reserve your tickets contact Chris King or Chris Payne on 01258 840255 or the choir’s secretary on 01202 552571.

Barclays House Choir is now The Quayside Choir

Just before the Lockdown crisis, and after over 40 years as Barclays House Choir, we were advised by Barclays Bank that they could no longer support the group financially as they were formerly disbanding their Arts Council, through which our funding had been secured. We are grateful to Barclays for enabling us to sing together for so long.  Undeterred, we are now re-named as The Quayside Choir and continue to offer a great musical and social activity for the people of Poole and the surrounding area.

Helen Brind, our musical director since 2014, remains at the helm. Rehearsals have moved to St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Wimborne Road, Poole, where we meet on Tuesday evenings from 7.30-9.30pm.  The choir is going through the process of applying for charitable status and aims to continue to stage its own concerts and to participate in other community events in the area. Repertoire, as always, will consist of a wide variety of music both sacred and secular. Watch this space for information of our events and activities!
